MuhMur Radio Broadcast 13 October 2024.

The first hour of the broadcast is dedicated to Lenka Lente, the Nantes based label operated by Guillaume Belhomme. Guillaume started the label with the cassette release 'Olka Linto' by his project Fra Lopes. In 2013 Lenka Lente released the Michael Esposito 3"CD 'In The Silence Of A Watery Grave', it was inside a small A6 book 'L'Envelope' by Guillaume. This release became the format for all future Lenka Lente releases. Over the past eleven years they have released 3" CDs with accompanying literature by the likes of (musicians) Daniel Menche, My Cat Is An Alien, Andrew Liles, Bill Nace and a lot featuring Nurse With Wound. All the books are printed in French. Their latest release is "The Bloy Enigma' by Nurse With Wound accompanied by the book 'Revenantes' by Léon Bloy. Last year they released a limited edition compilation cassette to celebrate ten years of the Lenka Lente book/3"CD output.

The cassette was limited to 100 copies. I play side A of the cassette. Guillaume can be contacted at : https://www.lenkalente.com/. They also release a lot of jazz editions too ... if that's your thang. The Michael Idehall track is from the album version of 'Apokryphos'. I played 2 tracks from the 7" version on the last broadcast. http://www.ant-zen.com/ for more details.
With releases on such labels as Brachliegen Tapes, Industrial Coast, Profound Mystery and Helen Scarsdale Agency, Jo Montgomerie has a sound to keep an ear out for. Her latest (self) release is 'y c t y f t t' a C60 cassette of sounds produced at her last few live performances in Manchester, Middlesborough and London. The tape is limited and there's no download. https://jomontgomerie.bandcamp.com for more details.
At the same time as compiling this programme I was playing 7" & 12" singles released between 1978 - 1983 as I have been asked for my 'top 5'. It's some social media / internet thing that a friend has asked me to do. It's fun. There's a few in this broadcast. Psychic TV 'Breakthrough' is one of them. I shall play my top 5 in December's MuhMur Radio Broadcast ...

Last year the Belfast based label Tone Burst released the cassette 'Hatchet For Kindling', a mail collaboration between Paul Harrison (Paradox Encounter Group, Expose Your Eyes, Chapman, Smell & Quim) and Andrew Fletcher (Soloman Tump, Intrusive Signals). The cassette is long sold out but download copies are still available via https://toneburst.bandcamp.com. I was fortunate to have Andrew as a guest during the broadcast and Soloman Tump will be presenting a live set for MuhMur Radio in the new year ...

                                                                   Soloman Tump.

Prelest is the project of Polish sound artist Mikolaj Źentara. "Tenets Of Degradation" is from the mini-CD 'Teodal', part of  a series of mini-CDs that Freak Animal Records released last year. Mozzhead, Contortus and Amek Maj also being part of the series. http://freak-animal.net for more information.

The second half of the broadcast starts with Christian Mirande and the titular track from his 2020 cassette 'Exercise' on the mighty Hanson Records label, followed by 'Mudbast Boys' by Soviet France from the 12"EP "Ritual" ... also known as the Hessian 12". (It's packaged in a hessian sack).

Released in 1982 on Red Rhino Records ..... This is NOT a B-Side! It all gets a bit Bill Burroughs next with 23 Skidoo's 'Last Words'. This is the B-Side of the 'The Gospel Comes To New Guinea' 12". Recorded in 1981 at the Western Works studio in Sheffield and jointly produced by Cabaret Voltaire. I know you probably know but the lyrics from this song come from the Burroughs novel "Nova Express".
The Phantom Plastics 'Get In!'

"The gun fell down on the floor from the table where it was placed and accidentally went off.
The couple agreed to do a 'William Tell' by placing a glass on Joan's head while William fired the pistol.
An evil spirit occupied William's body and soul and directed him to fire the lethal bullet".

'Get In!' is compiled of EVP recordings made at Calle Montgomery, Mexico City in 2011. For this project

The Phantom Plastics were CM Von Hauswolff and Michael Esposito. Rapoon's 'Out' is from the compilation CD "Cut Up. Deconstructing W.S. Burroughs" on the Italian Unexplained Sounds Group label.

'Hammer House' was the first release by CTI - Conspiracy International, a side project from Chris & Cosey. The name first appeared on the 1982 Chris & Cosey album "Trance" (I have still got to get myself a copy of this) but I think it was as a production unit. in 1984 CTI released 2 12" singles and 2 albums, all (in my opinion) classics. 'Hammer House' features vocals from Glenn Michael Wallis of Konstruktivists. The cover photograph is of Dennis Neilson's house in Muswell Hill.
The Dead Mauriacs piece is from the split cassette release with Jan Warnke. I played Jan's side on last month's broadcast. https://geraeuschmanufaktur.bandcamp.com for more details. I know next to nothing about Are Mundal. From Norway and active since the 1990s is about as much as I know. Stefan at Drone Records kindly mailed me the double CD "Compilation Volume 1" released last year by Telestrion Records. 'Interloper II' was originally released in 2020.

https://aremundal.blogspot.com for more information. Drone Records (Germany) are distributing this release. In the past few weeks Japanese sound artist Takahiro Mukai has released two cassettes on labels based (down here) in the South-West of England. "Asian Dust" appeared on the Bristol based Cardboard Club label and a couple of weeks ago Human Geography Recordings from Burnham-On-Sea released "Uneven". The two pieces here are from the "Uneven" cassette. In 1976 I was in Burnham-On-Sea and I saw my first live band ... Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders. I was in a pub I can't remember the name of and my older sister had to buy my drinks as I was under-18. (Useless Information as Chris & Cosey would say).

Trembling with Joy is a new project from Michael Anderson (Drekka), Mark Trecka and Michael Carlson (remst8) and Cinder Sharp (Cindytalk). The piece here is from their debut CD album "Born Trembling". https://www.falsewalls.co.uk/release/born-trembling/ to grab a copy. The broadcast ends with a classic from 1980 by Cupol. Cupol was Bruce Gilbert & Graham Lewis of Wire & Dome fame...and yes ... it is a B-Side.

The mighty Ubiquitous Meh! play SoundArt Radio Studios on October 27, if you're in the area please pop in .. also playing are The Goblin Band and some SoundArt Radio DJs. (not me though ... you can't dance to Bill Burroughs, you just writhe round on the floor a bit ... to paraphrase The Instant Automatons).

Thanks forever to Chris without whom this programme would never happen, and Andrew Fletcher.

                                                                       Chris.
